Getting started
What is Oloya HQ?
An AI DevOps engineer for Linux servers. You install one small gateway on your VPS, then deploy, monitor, secure and fix it from a dashboard, either by clicking or by describing what you want in plain English.
Do I need to know Linux or DevOps?
No. Oloya HQ plans and runs the work for you: runtimes, process managers, reverse proxies, certificates and alerts. If you do know these tools, the full technical detail of every plan and operation is always one click away.
Does it replace my DevOps engineer?
For a team without one, it does the day-to-day DevOps work. For a team with one, it takes over the repetitive part (triage, routine fixes, deploys) and leaves the decisions to them. Either way, a person approves every risky change.
Which servers are supported?
Linux VPS servers from any provider. Install the gateway with one command; it connects outbound, so no inbound ports or SSH access are needed.
How do I connect a server?
Add a server in the dashboard and copy its install command. Run it on the server with sudo. The server appears as healthy within about 15 seconds. The Docs page walks through it step by step.
Security and safety
Does the AI get root access or a shell on my server?
No. The AI DevOps engineer can only propose calls to named tools with typed arguments. A policy engine checks each one, risky ones wait for your approval, and the gateway runs them as argument vectors, never through a shell.
What does the gateway collect, and what never leaves my server?
Metrics, process and container state, and the logs you choose to ship, within a retention limit. It never uploads private keys, SSH keys, database passwords or complete environment files.
What happens if an operation fails halfway?
The audit record is written before execution, so the attempt is always visible. Verification is a separate step: an operation is not marked done until its health check passes.
Can I connect a server read-only?
Yes. Install with --mode=monitor and the gateway only reports metrics, logs and what is running. It cannot make changes. You can reinstall in the default manage mode later.
Do I need to open any ports?
No. The gateway only makes outbound HTTPS connections to Oloya HQ. You open no inbound ports and share no SSH keys.
Plans and billing
Is there a free plan?
Yes. You can start free with one server. The pricing page lists what each plan includes.
Can I pay yearly?
Yes. Every paid plan can be billed monthly or yearly, and yearly costs less. You can switch a paid plan between the two from the Billing page.
What are AI credits?
The AI DevOps engineer uses credits as it works. Each paid plan includes a monthly allowance, and the Billing page shows your current balance.
Troubleshooting
My server is stuck on "pending".
On the server, run systemctl status oloya-gateway and journalctl -u oloya-gateway -n 100. The usual causes are blocked outbound HTTPS or an expired install token. Tokens are single-use and short-lived, so create a fresh install command from the dashboard and run it again.
My server shows as offline.
A server is marked offline after 90 seconds without a heartbeat. Check that the oloya-gateway service is running and that the server can reach Oloya HQ over HTTPS. While it is disconnected, the gateway keeps data in a bounded local buffer and sends it when it reconnects.
An operation is waiting and nothing is happening.
Medium- and high-risk operations wait for someone with permission to approve them. Open Operations in the dashboard to approve or reject it. If it was approved, check that the server is online, because the gateway picks up work on its next heartbeat.
